THE DECISION IN BRIEF
Our oil sprayer will gain a decorative sleeve; what should we compare before approving it?
Evaluate the sleeved assembly on the filled bottle through use and storage. Check movement, fit, grip and residue behaviour, and keep the underlying configuration identified.
Identify the finished construction
Ask the supplier how the sleeve is supplied and which component it covers. Record its reference, attachment arrangement and any changes to the underlying part. A rendering cannot establish the physical clearance or final finger contact.
Keep an unsleeved approved reference if available. The comparison should show what the decoration changes, not introduce an unrecorded alternative pump. If the supplier uses another configuration for the cosmetic sample, identify that limitation before collecting user preferences.
Observe movement and handling
Use the actual formula and filled bottle. Watch the user's grip, actuator travel, cap fitting and any contact with the shoulder. Record whether oil residue collects at sleeve edges or affects how the package is held.
If interference appears, request an identified corrective sleeve or assembly. If movement is clear but users lose grip, review the surface and task. Do not compensate by asking users to hold the bottle in an unnatural way solely to preserve the cosmetic concept.
- Record sleeve and underlying assembly references.
- Compare resting and operated clearances.
- Inspect cap fit and removal.
- Observe residue after the normal task.
Keep appearance evidence separate from performance
Aptar describes decoration and actuator choices within a spray platform. Confirm the actual production sleeve construction before comparing fit and use. Request a finished sample where a manual cosmetic prototype cannot represent the intended attachment or clearance.
If an exterior wiping method is proposed, evaluate it with the final decorated package rather than a bare component. Preserve the accepted construction in purchasing and sample records. A later cosmetic substitution may deserve a focused clearance or handling review even when the bottle interface remains the same. Approve the complete visible package users will receive.
If the sleeve sample was assembled manually for appearance review, ask whether production attachment differs. A cosmetically convincing prototype may not represent the final fit. Request the defined production proposal before deciding that the visible assembly proves clearance, retention or residue behaviour for the eventual order.
