THE DECISION IN BRIEF
Can our miniature foamer use the full-size texture approval and the same expected stroke count?
Treat the mini as a separate selected configuration. Compare its liquid portion, foam presentation, application routine and restart with the intended formula before claiming a consistent range experience.
Decide what should remain consistent
The full-size and mini packs may share visual branding while delivering different portions. Define whether the goal is similar texture, similar amount per use or similar number of strokes. Those objectives can lead to different engine choices.
Silgan's M3 and F3 pages identify their respective engine options and distinguish liquid output from delivered foam dose. This illustrates why a range relationship does not establish identical delivery from every size.
Compare the experience across sizes
Use final formula and production-intent configurations. Do not judge miniature performance from a scaled product rendering.
- Identify liquid portion and visible foam presentation for each size.
- Observe the ordinary stroke count for the intended application.
- Review grip, cap removal and actuator access.
- Assess restart after relevant travel and storage conditions.
- Compare residual product under the agreed end-of-use method.
Avoid shrinking the full-size instructions blindly
A smaller bottle can change how users hold and press the pack. Check whether the same opening graphic remains visible and understandable. If customers need more strokes, decide whether that remains convenient for the mini's intended use.
Keep any travel requirement separate from ordinary dispensing orientation. Compactness does not establish transport performance, and a matching cap colour does not prove equivalent protection.
Ask suppliers to quote each complete configuration with its bottle and protective parts. A common family may simplify visual design and sourcing while still requiring distinct technical references.
Make the range promise specific
If texture is similar but portion differs, communicate the practical application through the appropriate instructions rather than forcing a hidden technical equivalence. If one common experience is essential, make that requirement explicit during development.
Retain side-by-side references produced under the agreed method. Later engine or bottle changes can then be assessed against the actual range decision instead of an assumption that all members of the family should behave identically.
