The supplier offers a recycled-plastic version of our trigger. Can it use the old approval?
Request a defined replacement configuration and change summary. Recycled-content information, appearance and package performance are separate items to review; none is established by a similar product name.
Ask what is actually changing
Identify the parts affected, the proposed material specification and the evidence available for the content statement. Do not assume all visible or contacting parts use the same material. Keep commercially sensitive details within the agreed technical review channel.
Compare the proposed item with the approved revision, including colors and surface appearance. A photograph under different lighting cannot settle a finish difference. Retain physical references if variation matters to the brand.
Repeat the relevant package checks
Build a retest plan from the stated changes and intended application. It may include assembly, operation, leakage, storage appearance and packing. Have the responsible technical team decide scope; the word PCR is not a shortcut to either acceptance or rejection.
Do not transfer food-contact or chemical-compatibility evidence from another material or supplier without confirming scope. Keep content claims and any market-facing wording separate from functional sample results.
Release a traceable revision
Record whether the replacement becomes the standard item, an approved alternative or a limited trial. Update the quotation, item reference and change-control record so receiving staff can identify which version arrived. Mixed deliveries should be identifiable rather than casually combined.
Ask the order acknowledgement to identify the accepted revision and any recycled-content statement actually supported for that option. Receiving should be able to distinguish it from the earlier construction without dismantling an unknown unit or relying on a promotional picture.
