THE DECISION IN BRIEF
Two suppliers demonstrate oil sprayers at different fill levels; can we compare their videos fairly?
Treat the videos as limited observations and repeat the relevant task with identified assemblies at comparable intended fill states.
Identify what differs beyond the pump
A demonstration can vary in bottle geometry, tube arrangement, formula and fill state as well as sprayer design. Request those references before ranking the result. A full bottle demonstration does not answer a complaint that occurs near the end of use.
Ask each supplier which configuration and operating instructions are shown. Keep any missing information visible. A polished video can illustrate a deposit without establishing how another assembly will behave with the buyer's formula.
Recreate the decision-relevant comparison
Choose the fill states that represent the intended task with the product team. Use the actual formula and controlled bottle arrangements where practical. Record startup, ordinary delivery and any orientation dependence separately.
If candidates cannot use the same bottle, preserve that difference and compare complete packages rather than claiming to isolate the pump. If the ranking changes with fill state, examine the task requirement before selecting the most visually pleasing clip.
- Identify formula, bottle and tube in each demonstration.
- State the fill condition for every sample.
- Use consistent target and actuation instructions.
- Keep low-fill and first-use findings separate.
Make the supplier decision evidence-based
Aptar distinguishes formula and orientation variants. Request comparable demonstrations that identify both the configuration and fill state. Where the bottle cannot be shared, assess the proposed complete packages and preserve that limitation instead of ranking an isolated pump feature.
Request samples of the configurations actually demonstrated and compare them under the shared plan. Record which candidate supports the relevant fill states and what limitations remain. Do not convert one satisfactory full-bottle observation into a claim of consistent performance throughout the bottle. The approval should reflect the range of intended use that was evaluated.
Label comparison limitations
When supplier samples cannot share the same geometry, state explicitly which package-level differences remain. A useful comparison can still support a selection, but it should not claim to isolate one pump feature. Preserve those limits so a later reader does not treat the resulting preference as an interchangeable-component endorsement.
