THE DECISION IN BRIEF
Our filler wants to apply the pump while lotion is still warm. Is room-temperature sample approval enough?
No. Share the actual filling and assembly conditions with the component supplier. Agree a process-specific trial and inspect the selected filled assembly after application and cooling.
Put the process on the enquiry
State the intended bulk condition at filling, when the pump is applied and the subsequent handling sequence. Ask the filler to distinguish routine operating conditions from occasional excursions. A supplier cannot evaluate a process described only as “warm fill.”
O.Berk separates the gasket, closure, housing and other pump components. Their combined assembly makes it inappropriate to infer process suitability from the named plastic on the collar alone.
Review with the filler and supplier
Use their technical instructions and project evidence to set conditions; do not borrow a universal temperature limit from another package.
- Confirm whether the selected pump is intended for the proposed process.
- Identify conditions at filling, attachment, cooling and packing.
- Agree component storage and handling before assembly.
- Inspect seating, leakage, appearance and operation after the trial.
- Define what happens when the line leaves the approved process window.
Evaluate the finished result as well as line performance
Observe insertion and closure application during the trial, then examine the pack after its normal cooling and holding sequence. A smooth application at the machine does not establish that the cooled assembly seals and dispenses correctly.
Use final or production-representative bulk. If the process affects formula behaviour, formulation and packaging teams should decide what additional evaluation is relevant. Do not resolve a component issue by changing bulk conditions without reviewing product consequences.
Retain representative samples with the actual process record. If a problem appears later, this allows the team to distinguish material configuration from line conditions. Include restart and normal use after holding, rather than checking only one immediate stroke.
Add the accepted sequence to the supplier and filler handover. If filling is transferred to another site, compare its process against that record before treating component approval as transferable. The purchasing goal is a reproducible saleable pack, so the process used to produce it belongs in the approval evidence alongside the component references.
