OIL-RESISTANT SPRAYERS / BUYING GUIDE

Keep Oil Formula Samples Representative During Supplier Evaluation

Prevent sample handling from becoming an invisible trial variable.

THE DECISION IN BRIEF

Our supplier's oil sample behaves differently from ours; how do we check whether the sample itself changed?

Compare sample identity, transfer, storage and preparation records before comparing pumps. Send a newly identified retained split if the original sample history is uncertain.

Trace what was actually sent

A small bottle labelled with a product name may not establish the revision, batch or preparation state of its contents. Recover the dispatch record and ask who transferred the liquid, which container was used and whether anything was added. Identify whether the supplier evaluated the received sample directly or prepared another mixture.

Request the supplier's handling and observation notes without assuming misuse. A sample may have a different travel or standing history from the retained material. Preserve both histories so the teams can decide whether a fresh comparison is warranted.

Compare a controlled split

Ask the formulation owner to prepare an identified split of representative material using suitable sample containers and the established handling procedure. Retain one portion and send another with clear preparation instructions. Avoid improvised cleaning or transfer practices that could introduce another uncontrolled variable.

  • Confirm formula revision and production batch.
  • Record transfer container and preparation.
  • Preserve dispatch and storage history.
  • Ask exactly which liquid reached the supplier's trial.

Resolve conflicting observations

Compare the liquid's appearance and dispensing behavior using the same assembly reference where practical. If the teams still obtain different observations, compare actuation, bottle and conditions before escalating to a material change. A video can help document technique but should include sample references.

Decide whether previous findings remain usable

Aptar names sample formula as a package-result variable. Ask the supplier to identify the liquid used in each observation and connect any replacement proposal to that sample. Preserve the retained split so another technical owner can review the same material.

If the original sample cannot be identified reliably, label its findings as limited rather than combining them with the new comparison. A fresh representative split may be faster and more useful than debating incompatible demonstrations. Connect subsequent supplier proposals to the replacement sample reference so the project has one shared technical starting point.

Specify replacement sample references

If the supplier discards the first sample after a replacement arrives, preserve the original findings with their limited identity and history. Do not merge the two records under a single product name. The new sample should create a clear comparison point, allowing later proposals to refer to the liquid actually examined.
