THE DECISION IN BRIEF
The supplier offers PCR caps and actuators at the same dimensions. Can we approve by color sample?
Review the identified resin proposal and production-intent parts for appearance, engagement, handling, and relevant contact behavior before releasing the change.
Define the scope of the proposal
Ask which components change and whether the proposed PCR content applies to each part, a blend, or the entire assembly claim. Record the material identification, percentage basis, color, and any relevant source controls. Do not turn a statement about one cap into a claim about the full sprayer.
Aptar lists PCR options for selected PZ1 external components. Use that as context for requesting a component-specific proposal. The actual STDPAK configuration needs its own identified material and approval record.
Compare functional and visual results
Use production-intent samples and keep unchanged parts controlled. A color plaque cannot show cap engagement or actuator behavior on the bottle.
- Compare shade, surface finish, and permitted visual variation.
- Assess cap seating, removal, and repeated refitting.
- Check actuator travel and any contact with adjacent parts.
- Review relevant formula exposure and packing wear.
Separate claims from package qualification
Ask the responsible team to verify the evidence and wording for any recycled-content claim. Material sourcing evidence addresses a different question from whether the revised cap remains retained during shipping. Keep both release decisions visible.
If the new material needs a different colorant or process, record that change rather than describing the part as dimensionally identical and stopping the review. If one characteristic is unacceptable, ask for a specific revision and compare it against the original project criteria.
Set practical supply controls
Agree an appearance range that can be inspected consistently across lots. A single ideal sample may not define the permitted variation, so request appropriate references and a clear acceptance method. Keep critical engagement and movement criteria in the specification.
Release the exact material, part, color, and processing revision with supplier change-notification requirements. Include any justified first-lot checks and inventory identification. The buying decision can then account for the intended material objective alongside the same functional and appearance requirements applied to other approved components, without treating sustainability language as a substitute for package performance.
