Check Closure Reassembly in a Refillable Lotion Pack

Review repeated user opening separately from factory closure application.

THE DECISION IN BRIEF

Our screw pump works after factory assembly. What extra closure evidence is needed for refilling?

Evaluate intended consumer opening and reclosure with the exact bottle and pump through the defined refill routine. Factory application alone does not establish repeatable user assembly.

Separate factory and consumer tasks

The filler may apply the closure with controlled equipment while customers use varied grip and judgement. Describe what users are expected to remove and reinstall. If the product relies on a particular assembly sequence, make it understandable through the final instructions.

O.Berk identifies the closure and sealing gasket as separate parts. Reassembly therefore needs to preserve both retention and the intended sealing interface, not merely the appearance of a collar sitting on the bottle.

Inspect after user reclosure

Have the supplier review the intended reusable configuration. The comparison should use project-defined cycles and criteria rather than a claimed universal thread life.

ObservationQuestion
Closure starts at an angleCan users identify proper engagement?
Collar appears seated but pack leaksIs sealing contact preserved?
Pump turns while unlockingIs the reclosed assembly secure enough for normal operation?
Visible wear or deformationDoes the selected system remain suitable for the reuse plan?

Use the actual refill presentation

Include the proposed refill instructions, bottle graphics and grip surfaces. A plain laboratory bottle opened by technical staff may hide usability problems that appear in the final decorated pack.

Ask reviewers to refill without coaching, then inspect their assemblies before correcting them. Preserve incorrect states as evidence for design or instruction changes. Do not simply retighten each sample and report that the pump still works.

Evaluate relevant handling after reclosure and operate the pump again. Record leakage location, opening effort and whether the closure shifts during ordinary dispensing. If a revised seal or collar is proposed, repeat the affected review.

Put the accepted consumer task into the purchasing specification alongside the hardware references. If a replacement bottle source is introduced, qualify it for this reassembly routine as well as initial factory fit. The value of a refill system depends on repeatable use outside the filling line's controlled process.
