LOTION & FOAM PUMPS / BUYING GUIDE

Check Printed Lotion Actuators for Handling Wear

Evaluate markings where fingers and product repeatedly touch.

THE DECISION IN BRIEF

Can we print instructions directly on the lotion actuator without a separate durability review?

Evaluate the proposed print process on production-intent parts under relevant handling and formula contact. Confirm legibility and operation after use before making the printed head the approved instruction surface.

Map the touch points

Identify where users press, grip to unlock and wipe residue. An instruction printed on the finger pad faces a different task from a logo on the collar. Tell the decorator which markings remain necessary after first opening and which are purely visual.

Aptar's pump resources describe customization and actuator options. They show that decoration is configurable, but they do not establish that an arbitrary ink or process performs with your formula and handling routine.

Choose the evaluation by purpose

Agree the relevant review with the decoration supplier and product team. Avoid adopting an unrelated abrasion limit just because it is available in another specification.

Marking purposeWhat to examine
Opening instructionLegibility before intended opening
Repeated-use instructionLegibility after ordinary handling
Brand markAccepted appearance through the agreed use sequence
Identification codeTraceability under its actual handling conditions

Use a realistic decorated assembly

Test the final or representative formula and cleaning routine on the proposed printed part. Record where liquid contacts the surface and whether users naturally rub the marking. Inspect both the marking and any transferred residue.

Review contrasting colours under ordinary viewing conditions. A marking can remain physically present while becoming difficult to read against a glossy or similarly coloured background. Do not equate visible ink in a close photograph with usable instructions.

Check that the decoration process does not obstruct movement, outlet geometry or mating surfaces. Ask the supplier how the printed area is located and controlled, and review production-intent samples rather than a carefully prepared concept.

If the required durability is difficult to achieve on the moving head, compare another instruction location or an available moulded cue. Include tooling, artwork and user comprehension in that decision. The purchase should specify an effective information system, with the chosen print process and accepted appearance clearly documented.
