THE DECISION IN BRIEF
Our refill pours awkwardly into the perfume bottle. Should we add a funnel?
Compare the refill outlet, bottle opening, grip, and fill target first. Evaluate any funnel as a controlled accessory rather than an automatic fix.
Observe transfer with both containers
Use production-intent bottle and refill shapes at representative fill levels. Watch how users hold them, start the flow, stop pouring, and judge the target level. A narrow decorative neck may look elegant but leave little room for a practical transfer action.
Record where liquid goes when the pour is interrupted. Overflow at the bottle mouth, drips from the refill outlet, and liquid retained in an accessory are different problems. Avoid approving a funnel based only on a clean single demonstration by a trained operator.
Compare accessory and container solutions
Aptar offers identified portable refillable fragrance formats. Treat format selection as part of the complete system rather than assuming every refill bottle can serve every removable sprayer.
- Check access with the pump fully removed.
- Compare pouring control at the start and end.
- Review accessory stability and intended contact surfaces.
- Assess storage and identification of any reusable accessory.
Review the technical responsibilities
Have the product team assess contacting materials and any supported handling or cleaning directions for the accessory. A funnel becomes part of the product workflow and cannot be treated as an unreviewed giveaway. Confirm whether it is supplied for one use or repeated use.
If a narrower refill outlet solves access, reassess transfer time and stopping control. If a dedicated adapter is proposed, verify the matched interfaces and removal sequence. Do not force a rigid part into the bottle or assume a visually similar neck creates a reliable connection.
Release a practical refill set
Approve the transfer sequence, fill target, instructions, and required accessories together. Compare users without coaching, then refine any unclear step. Preserve evidence of the accepted method and remaining limitations.
Include the approved accessory in the quotation, packing, and spare-part plan if the refill depends on it. Recheck after changes to refill bottle stiffness, opening geometry, or original bottle finish. The final purchasing specification should preserve the transfer experience as reliably as it preserves the sprayer color.
