FINE MIST SPRAYERS / BUYING GUIDE

Transfer a Mist Pump to a New Bottle Supplier

Requalify a source change that keeps the same catalogue neck designation.

THE DECISION IN BRIEF

The alternate bottle lists the same finish. Can we use our approved sprayer unchanged?

Compare controlled finish and internal drawings, representative bottle variation, assembly, sealing, tube position, and handling before transferring the approval.

Identify all changed bottle characteristics

A shared finish code is useful identification, not evidence that the whole bottle matches. Obtain drawings and revisions from both suppliers. Review neck geometry, height, internal base, shoulder, and relevant variation. Ask whether the replacement is an exact approved drawing or merely a similar catalogue selection.

Keep the existing bottle and sprayer as a reference. Use the same formula and identified pump lot when comparing the new bottle. If several variables change together, the trial cannot show whether the bottle source caused a new behavior.

Build a transfer checklist

Berlin Packaging offers dimensional and package-fit evaluation resources. Choose checks based on the differences found rather than assuming a catalogue designation settles fit.

  • Confirm finish geometry and assembly instructions.
  • Check collar position and actuator clearance.
  • Observe tube installation and low-fill access.
  • Evaluate sealing and the intended handling route.

Use representative new-bottle samples

Do not qualify a source from one favorable bottle. Agree a justified sample selection with the suppliers and quality team, reflecting the intended production supply. Record bottle lots and measured variation where relevant. Keep dimensional and functional results connected to each specimen.

If the new bottle assembles differently, review the relevant interface before adjusting the entire filling line. If the exterior looks unchanged but residual product increases, compare the internal base and tube position. If only cap appearance changes, examine assembled height separately from sealing.

Release the alternative explicitly

Document the approved bottle source, drawing, pump configuration, tube, and line settings. State whether both sources remain approved and whether they require different setup or packing. Receiving and scheduling teams need that distinction before mixed inventory reaches the filler.

Reassess relevant transport evidence if weight, dimensions, or packing change. Keep the original qualification record rather than replacing its supplier name. Purchasing then has a controlled second-source option, with clear limits on interchangeability, instead of a broad assumption that every bottle carrying the same finish mark will behave identically.

KEEP THIS WITH THE SAMPLE

For your buying brief

  • Compare complete bottle drawings.
  • Keep formula and pump controlled during transfer.
  • Approve each source and setup explicitly.
