THE DECISION IN BRIEF
Our mist works well but feels tiring to use. Should we enlarge the actuator?
Observe the complete grip and repeated pressing first. Compare identified actuator options while keeping the formula and engine controlled.
Watch the hand, not just the nozzle
A finger-pad complaint may originate in bottle diameter, head position, surface feel, or repeated actuation effort. Observe representative users holding the filled pack naturally. Record finger placement, wrist position, and whether they change grip between sprays.
Compare candidates on the actual bottle rather than pressing loose pumps on a table. Filled weight and bottle geometry influence handling. Keep the cap removed in the intended manner and the nozzle visibly oriented so uncertainty about direction does not distort the pressing behavior.
Separate the ergonomic questions
Silgan describes soft-actuation options for identified sprayers. Ask for configuration-specific comparisons; do not infer that every larger head requires less effort.
| Observation | Possible design review |
|---|---|
| Finger slips | Pad surface and finger position |
| Users press off-center | Pad geometry and nozzle cue |
| Hand must regrip | Bottle diameter and actuator placement |
| Fatigue after repeated sprays | Engine feel, travel, and intended application sequence |
Keep the comparison controlled
Use the same formula and fill condition when comparing head shapes. If the supplier changes the engine as well, identify that difference and evaluate it deliberately. A preferred result cannot be attributed to the larger pad if several internal elements changed at once.
Include the intended repeated-use sequence rather than one favorable press. Record user comments alongside observable actions and any suitable controlled measurements agreed with the supplier. Avoid medical or accessibility claims that the limited handling exercise does not establish.
After selecting a head, recheck cap clearance, collar relationship, nozzle direction, and packing height. A comfortable actuator can create interference if treated as an isolated accessory. Release the exact head and engine configuration with an identified physical reference. Purchasing then has a reproducible ergonomic choice instead of a broad description such as easy-press luxury sprayer.
